    • Taekwondo is a martial art with roots in Korea. Taekwondo focuses on kicking, blocking, and basic punching techniques.​

    • WTF style is a style of sport Takeowndo, of the same kind that you see in the Olympics!​

  • What is sparring?

    • Sparring is when two Taekwondo athletes face each other on the mat and fight using taekwondo techniques​.

  • What is poomsae?

    • Poomsae are the Taekwondo forms that are a series of non-contact movements that demonstrate technique, precision, and mastery of taekwondo movements.​

The Club

Practices & Gear 

  • What is PennTKD?

    • We're Penn's competitive sport taekwondo club — join us for a good workout, a great experience traveling the East Coast for competitions, and a chance to learn more about the sport as both a competitive and cultural art. We're open to everyone, no experience is necessary, so feel free to drop in on any practice!

  • Who runs the club?

    • Students like you! The board is elected and runs the club, coordinating with coaches, alumni, and the current student population

  • When and where does the club meet?

    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 7:30-9:30, and Sundays 5-7 pm
      All in Pottruck room 414!​

  • How does the club communicate?

  • What does the club do outside of taekwondo?

    • Informal meetups, Formals, and Social Events throughout the year!

Competitions & TRAVEL

  • Are competitions required?​

    • ​No! However, they are highly encouraged because they are a great experience and suit individuals of all skill levels.
